Today, June 7th, marks World Food Safety Day, and this year’s theme, “Food Safety: Science in Action,” truly resonates with our mission and vision at Food Safety Associates Limited.

As a leading provider of food safety, SPS, quality, and standards-related services in Eastern and Southern Africa, we understand the critical role science plays in safeguarding our food supply. This is particularly vital in the context of agro-food trade, where food safety standards directly impact market access, consumer confidence, and economic stability. Unsafe food can lead to trade barriers, significant economic losses and food contamination related outbreaks. Our work is crucial in ensuring that products meet international requirements, facilitating smooth and safe trade.

We are able to have a sustainable impact through our comprehensive approach that is strengthened by our dedicated affiliate companies and organizations;

• Digital Food Safety and Trade Services (DiFSATS) which is the hub for digital innovations in food safety, Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures, standards, and trade.
• National Food Safety Institute (NFSI) that is mandated for research and development, innovations, conformity assessment and training and advisory services relating to food safety, quality and standards
• Food Safety Advocacy and Promotion Center (FOSAPAC) which leads efforts in promoting food safety and quality, engaging in advocacy, and raising public awareness to inculcate a food safety culture in our society.

We are committed to working with various stakeholders in governments, non-state actors, development partners, businesses, and consumers to prevent foodborne risks and ensure that safe food is accessible to all.
