Awareness Raising

The food safety, SPS, Quality and standards related challenge in African society is compounded in the serious lack of demand by consumers for safe and quality products. Because consumers are not aware about the challenges effect of unsafe food and poor quality products on their health they continue to purchase and consume food in whatever state it may be. As a result, producers find themselves with no motivation for producing safe and quality products generally.

Consumers must be made aware of the problems associated with unsafe and poor quality products especially concerning consumer health and market access. When they have this information, then they will begin to demand safe and good quality products which will be enough to motivate producers and government agencies to work towards placement of safe and quality food on market.

Ours is to be the catalyst for generating demand for safe and quality products in our society. We sensitize the consumers and general public about the importance of safe and quality products to our safety, health, welfare and environment. We also sensitize the producers on the need and ways of ensuring safe and quality products for improved consumer protection and market access. We sensitize government agencies, policy markers, policy implementers and the other stakeholders on the need to regulate and inculcate a culture of food safety, SPS, quality and standards in our society.

We participate in organizing conferences, media events and development and dissemination technical publications and simple and easy to understand messages focusing to achieve the above.

We are available to collaborate with government, development partners and other stakeholders in furthering interventions in this area, which is hugely neglected.
