1. Technical Position Paper Presentation on Reforming Uganda National Quality Infrastructure; 10th/February/2017

The lead expert of Food Safety Associates Ltd presented a Technical Position Paper on “Reforming of the Uganda National Quality Infrastructure” to the Parliamentary Committee of Tourism,Trade and Industry.

2. Training of UNBS Inspectors on “Planning and Conducting an Inspection;” 13/January/ 2017

Dr. Bagumire Ananias, the Lead Consultant of Food Safety Associates facilitated a training on “Planning and Conducting an Inspection” for UNBS inspectors at the UNBS headquarters in Bweyogerere, Kampala-Uganda.

3. Training of Grain Millers and Hammer Mill Fabricators on “Enhancing Food Safety, Quality and Implementation of Standards;” 4th October and 6th December 2016

Food Safety Academy of Food Safety Associates Limited in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives under the Quality Infrastructure and Standards Programme; conducted a one day training on “Enhancing Food Safety, Quality and Implementation of Standards” in Central and Eastern Uganda. In Central Uganda, the training which was held at Management Technical and Advisory Center (MTAC), Nakawa on 4th October 2016 targeted cereal millers and hammer mill fabricators from Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts while in Eastern Uganda, the training was held at Reliance Hotel, Mbale district on 6th December 2016 and the targeted districts were Mbale, Sironko, Tororo and Iganga.

In both trainings, a total of 99 grain millers and hammer mill fabricators attended.

4. Training of Technical Assessors and Laboratory Analysts on “Method Validation and Measurement of Uncertainties” at Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI); on 13th-15th and 27th-29th September 2016

Food Safety Associates Limited in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives under Quality Infrastructure and Standards Programme (QUISP) facilitated a three days training on Method Validation and Measurement of Uncertainties where two groups of Technical Assessors and Laboratory Analysts were trained; one on 13th-15th and another on 27th-29th September 2016.

In each group, over 40 technical assessors and Lab analysts from different laboratories across the country were equipped with more knowledge on Method Validation and Measurement of Uncertainties.

 5. Training of Abattoir and Butchery Operators on “Meat Safety and Hygiene” in Eastern Uganda; 22nd-26th August 2016

The Food Safety Academy of Food Safety Associates Ltd, in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives conducted a Meat Safety and Hygiene training in Eastern Uganda (Mbale, Busia and Jinja); in which over 15o meat operators (animal traders, transporters, abattoir operators, butchery operators and other meat handlers) were equipped with knowledge and skills of how to maintain meat safety and hygiene along the entire value chain.

6. Training of the Kitchen and Restaurant Staff for the African Skies Hotel of Somalia on Hygiene for Hotels and Restaurants; September 2015-January 2016

The Food Safety Academy of Food Safety Associates Limited trained the Kitchen and Restaurant Staff of African Skies Hotel of Somalia the “Hygiene Course for Hotels and Restaurants. “

It was a one day training course which was conducted in the premises of the Food Safety Academy in Ntinda-Kampala (U), where the participants traveled from Somalia in five batches from 21st September 2015 to 7th January 2016 to attend the training.

A total of 62 staff who comprised of  the hotel Waiters, Bakers, Store supervisors, Chefs, Wash up  overseers and cleaners were equipped with knowledge and skills of ensuring and maintaining Hygiene in a hotel or restaurant in the training.
